WELCOME TO YOUTH CONFIRMATION - YEAR 1!
The first year of Confirmation preparation typically occurs in the seventh grade. If your son or daughter is in seventh grade or getting ready to enter seventh grade next year, then the information below is very good for your review.
Catechesis in Confirmation Year 1: During the first year of Confirmation preparation, a great deal of time is spent in the classroom reviewing the story of Salvation History from Adam to Jesus. Students will also receive a high level overview of Church history with special attention to the lives of the saints.
Important Confirmation Preparation: In addition to catechesis, students will work in the spring on selecting their Confirmation saint name. More information on this will come to students in the months ahead. Students will also select their Confirmation sponsor. It is strongly advised that students select a baptismal godparent, but a practicing Catholic 21 years or older may be chosen (see 'Selecting a Sponsor/Partner Form' below for more information).
Service Work: Our first year Confirmation candidates will also complete six service projects during the first year of preparation. General information about service projects at St. Ann's can be found by reading our Service Project Information Sheet. When youth perform their service projects, each project is not considered complete until a corresponding Service Project Report is filled out and turned in on the appropriate due date.
