What is meant by the invitation, ‘Seek My face’? Must we search for God’s face? Is it hidden or lost? No! The seeking, to which God mercifully invites us, is but the turning of the direction of our thoughts and desires to Him, the recognition that God’s face is more than all else.
The forty-day journey of Lent leads to Calvary on Good Friday, and from there to the resurrection. It is a journey towards Easter, but it brings us first to the cross. It is a difficult journey on which, like Jesus and with Jesus, we will be put to the test.
Lent is a 40 day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends at sundown on Holy Thursday. It's a period of preparation to celebrate the Lord's Resurrection at Easter.
